Recap: Public Speaking for Research Workshop

Recap: Public Speaking for Research Workshop

On Monday, June 23rd, we successfully hosted the Public Speaking for Research workshop at the “Enzo Ferrari” Department of Engineering. Organized by BrainXMORE in collaboration with ART-ER, the event was dedicated to helping PhD students and Research Fellows present their work effectively to non-expert audiences.

A Special Thank You

We extend a sincere thank you to Rossella Lombardozzi from ART-ER. Her support and collaboration were instrumental in realizing this initiative designed to promote transversal skills and connect research with the wider community.

Training Communication Skills

The workshop operated on the principle that public speaking is not an innate talent, but a skill that can be developed and trained.

During the session, participants engaged in:

  • Group interactions and exercises designed to break down the barriers of communication.
  • Analysis of real-world situations to understand the elements required for an impactful presentation.
  • Practical training to learn how to explain complex research to a general public.

Looking Ahead: The Pitch Session

This workshop served as the preparatory phase for our upcoming final event. The skills honed here will be put to the test on Friday, July 18, during the Pitch Your Research session.

Selected profiles will now move forward to present their research in a 5-minute pitch at the Hub in Polis. We look forward to seeing these communication skills in action!
